And Baby Makes Three
For those who want to find it, the evidence exists that tribes had a unique relationship with the treasures in the land of Yellow Rock Water millennia before European contact.  But it is tribal memory that retains the authentic – the voices, the history, and the cultural perspectives – so journey with us and listen for the words and silences, the ancient songs of the two-legged and four, and see Yellowstone, a Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site, as you will have never seen it before.

This outstanding weekend-away from ordinary life takes you to the extraordinary parallel universe of Indian Country. How better to spend your days than to travel high into the wondrous Bighorn Mountains to stand before the ancient Medicine Wheel and learn it's true origins to the Cheyenne People? Or to see the traditional Crow Nation Parade, watch the athleticism of the All Indian Rodeo and take this opportunity to visit the Tipi Capital of the World - Crow Fair; the largest outdoor traditional Powwow on the Plains, witnessing the floodlit dances that pulse long into the night.  Though many non-native visitors to powwows miss the intricacies of the dance steps and the Heartbeat of the Nation, the Drum, you will experience with interpretation the culture, the dances, the music, the excitement, and the Native Pride that traditional Powwow embodies. This weekend also includes a visit to the site of the Battle of the Little Bighorn.

Itinerary:

Friday 20th Aug
10am: Departure into the Bighorn Mountains to visit The Medicine Wheel. After a day spent high amongst the Wyoming peaks, we spend our evening immersed in powwow etiquette, interpretation; color, dance traditions and steps, the music and the competition of powwow.

Saturday 21st Aug
The Crow Nation Parade has its roots in the ceremonial method by which The People Move The Camp and is tribal showmanship at its best. This afternoon we visit the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation, traveling to landmark sites and sights for the Morning Star People, then after dinner on the hoof, it’s Grand Entry and the tribal pageantry commences!

Sunday 22nd Aug
Our morning begins at some of the most infamous land on the Northern Plains; the Little Bighorn Battlefield, after which we return to the Powwow grounds for Grand Entry and the recommencement of the competition at the Tipi Capitol of the World. Don’t forget your camera (and a good supply of batteries.)

I have been back from my tour for just over a week now and I still expect Serle to be sitting in the van outside my house ready to go on another amazing day of history, sights and people. We would like to thank you again for letting us share your friends and family.

I have some wonderful memories of this trip and will never forget any of them for as long as I live. A truly life changing experience. I hope that you will remember us with good memories as we will of you. Toksa!

The sights, sounds, smells and sheer wonderment at the beauty of all directions has been with us ever since our return. Not a day goes by without our talking of some aspect of our adventure, and at night I am transported to those stunning plains and mountains, and the people we met.         Gretchen, North Wales

If you look at the earth, there are certain places that seem to have power and we don't know what kind of power it is, except you have a different feeling, You feel energized... For most Americans, the Holy Land exists on another continent. But for Native people,
the holy land is here.
